Lala Lajpat Rai, the great freedom fighter established The Servants of People Society in 1921 at Lahore (Pakistan), which, after the partition of the country, shifted its base to New Delhi. We are privileged to have, as Presidents, such eminent personalities like – Shri Purushottam Das Tandon, Shri Balwant Rai Mehta, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Dr. Radha Nath Rath, Shri Krishan Kant, Lala Achint Ram. Society’s trustees are also well-known names like – late Shri I.K.Gujral ( ex-Prime Minister of India), Justice (Retd) Rajinder Sachhar and Justice (Rtd) Dr. Arijit Pasayat.

About the President

Shri Raj Kumar
President of Servents of people Society

A glimpse of the socially dedicated life of  Shri RAJ KUMAR Newly elected President of Servants of People Society.

70 years old Shri Raj Kumar Ji comes from a village in Dehradun, Uttrakhand and is a graduate from Delhi University 1975 batch.

Right from college days he was actively associated with Rajghat School of Non violence run by Gandhi Peace foundation. He organized youths from different walks of life and actively participated in Sarvodaya Movement under guidance of Jai Prakash Narayan.

He also organized youth camps, in different parts of India, especially Chambal Ghati, in association with Shri S N Subarao, a renowned Gandhian personality. Unemployed weavers were engaged in Khadi production in rehabilitation colonies in Indian capital. This was achieved with help of Gandhi Darshan Samiti and Khadi Commission. Inspired by views of Sant Vinoba Bhave, he tirelessly worked in remote areas of Himanchal Pradesh. Shri Raj Kumar Ji started an organization – Gramshri for upliftment of rural people and worked for welfare of children, youths and women.

In the year 1982 Shri Raj Kumar joined Servants of the People Society, as a social worker, in Delhi Branch. In 1985 he received independent charge of Allahabad Centre, where he reorganized the activities of the Centre and initiated Youth Camps to inspire them to take part in social upliftment. In 1998, he started Rajshri Tandon Seva Kendra and constructed an Auditorium. Rajshri Seva Kendra received 1.22 acres of land by ate Smt. Rani Tandon, daughter in law of Raji Purushotam Das Tandon, former President of Servants of the People Society.

In 2010 Shri RajKumar was promoted as Chairman, Allahabad Centre and in 2011 he was nominated Chairman of SOPS Delhi Branch and Secretary fo Servanta of the People Society, New Delhi, at Headquarter. In 2012 he was nominated as Vice President.

Shri Raj Kumar has been elected as National President, Servants of the People Society.
